First hearing held in Fenerbahçe's July 3 match-fixing conspiracy case

Fenerbahçe Sports Club held the first hearing of the lawsuit it filed against the prosecution and police regarding the 'match-fixing conspiracy' process that began on July 3, 2011.

The following statement was made by Fenerbahçe Sports Club regarding the matter:

The first hearing of the lawsuit filed by our club against the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Türkiye for the damages incurred due to the administrative actions and acts of prosecution and police personnel, which constitute 'gross service negligence' during the conspiracy investigation that began on July 3, 2011, was held today.

Following the hearing, which was also attended by our Board Members responsible for Legal Affairs, Fethi Pekin and Ali Alper Alpoğlu, our club lawyer Erden Gürden made statements to Fenerbahçe TV regarding the first hearing.

Stating that they explained the FETÖ conspiracy, the activities carried out by the terrorist organization, and the damages our club suffered as a result to the court, our club's lawyer Erden Gürden spoke as follows:

“As you know, we had filed a significant compensation lawsuit against the Ministry of Interior in the Administrative Court. Regarding this case, the Administrative Court decided that the High Criminal Courts had jurisdiction, and the Istanbul Anadolu 6th High Criminal Court was assigned to this file. As of November 7, we appeared at our hearing at the 6th High Criminal Court today. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Interior were also present. At the same time, our Board Members Fethi Pekin and Ali Alper Alpoğlu were also present at the hearing. We once again expressed verbally here the FETÖ conspiracy, the activities carried out by the terrorist organization, and the damages we suffered from this. We demanded that all our financial and moral damages be covered. We requested compensation for both our losses from not participating in the 2011-2012 Champions League and our 2014-2015 losses. The court took our demands quite seriously and referred the file to an expert witness in line with our requests. The experts will now examine our damages and will also come to our club. That is, whether it is sponsorship losses or losses from not participating in the Champions League… they will calculate these types of damages. We hope that they will rule for a good compensation afterwards.”
