Fernas Mining workers pause hunger strike

Fernas workers, who were dismissed from Fernas Mining—owned by AKP MP Ferhat Nasıroğlu—in the Soma district of Manisa for being members of the Independent Mine Workers Union and demanding their rights, have announced that they are pausing the hunger strike they had initiated.

In a statement released by the Fernas workers, it was stated that the decision was made following a meeting between AKP Group Chairman Abdullah Güler, DEM Party Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Sırrı Süreyya Önder, and AK Party Batman MP and owner of Fernas Mining, Ferhat Nasıroğlu. The written statement, which noted that a meeting between the workers' delegation and Fernas officials has been finalized, said, “We believe that the meeting to be held in Soma on Friday will yield a positive result.”
