Final posts of retired police officer Ali Şekeroğlu, who ended his life at the retirees' protest in front of the Constitutional Court, have emerged

Retired police officer Ali Şekeroğlu, who attempted suicide by saying "I am retired, I cannot make ends meet" during a protest organized by retirees in front of the Constitutional Court (AYM) in Ankara, could not be saved despite interventions at the hospital he was taken to.

It was reported that Şekeroğlu, stated to be a father of two, drew attention to financial difficulties in his speech at the protest area, using the expressions, "My daughter-in-law is unemployed, my son-in-law is unemployed."

An eyewitness present at the scene during the incident stated that Şekeroğlu spoke with those around him before his suicide attempt, and according to the information relayed to them, he said, "I had a grandchild, I couldn't give them a gold coin." The same witness expressed that the living conditions of retirees are worsening day by day.

In footage recorded by a mobile phone camera before Şekeroğlu pulled the trigger, he was heard saying, "I have given up on this now."

Posts made by Şekeroğlu from his social media account before the protest in Ankara have also emerged. Calling for participation in the retirees' press statement in front of the Constitutional Court in his posts, Şekeroğlu wrote, “Let's make our voices heard to live like human beings and make ends meet, which is a constitutional right” in his message.

In another post, saying, “No one can question our love for the homeland, but it cannot be punished with starvation either. Do not dishearten these devoted people...”, Şekeroğlu stated in his message regarding the police profession that they served under difficult conditions, and in retirement, they live below the hunger line.
