A fire broke out in a warehouse where illicit alcohol was being stored at a police impound lot in Pendik. The flames spread to 2 semi-trucks located at the same spot. The fire was extinguished through the intervention of firefighting crews.
The fire occurred at around 15:00 at the police impound lot in Pendik. According to allegations, a fire broke out for an unknown reason in the area where illicit alcohol seized by the Istanbul Police Department's Anti-Smuggling Branch was being stored. The fire, which ignited a large number of illicit alcohol bottles, also spread to 2 semi-trucks at the same location. Firefighting crews, who arrived at the scene upon notification, intervened with water and foam against the fire, which grew rapidly due to the wind. After the fire was brought under control with difficulty by the firefighters, police teams took security measures in the area. Material damage occurred to the 2 semi-trucks whose trailers caught fire. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
