Fire department report released on nightclub fire!

Istanbul’s fire department report regarding the fire that occurred at a nightclub has been released. The report emphasized that the fire broke out as a result of explosions in the electrical panel and various acts of negligence. It was stated that 29 people lost their lives due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

It was stated that the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation into the nightclub located on Gayrettepe Yıldız Posta Street where the fire broke out.

According to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Fire Department's report, the fire spread rapidly due to the ignition of insulation, flooring, and isolation materials. It was reported that emergency lighting and directional signs were non-functional, and fire extinguishing systems were not working.

The report noted that those who lost their lives during the fire were found motionless by fire crews, and that the deaths were caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.

The expert report detailed the negligence and flaws that caused the fire, noting that the renovations at the workplace were carried out in a rush. It was stated that the source of the fire was a welding machine in the main hall and that it spread after flammable materials caught fire.

The report focused on the reasons why the fire was noticed late and why it spread so rapidly. It was announced that 9 out of 12 suspects detained on grounds of negligence and fault have been arrested, while the others have been released.
