Fire in Tekirdağ: Factory rendered unusable

Bahçeağıl village, employees of a factory producing construction chemicals reported a fire to the 112 Emergency Call Center.

Fire, police, and 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to intervene in the fire. The factory was closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and citizens were moved away from the area as a precaution. The fire, which was brought under control after a 2-hour intervention by the teams, left the factory unusable.

COOLING OPERATIONS CONTINUE

Tekirdağ Governor Recep Soytürk, Kapaklı Mayor Mustafa Çetin, and Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Colonel Ahmet Çetin arrived at the scene to monitor the efforts.

In a statement to reporters at the scene, Soytürk said that the fire had been brought under control.

Stating that construction chemicals were produced at the factory, Soytürk said, "We believe the cause of the fire is related to gas and originated from an electrical issue. Approximately 15 vehicles from our Tekirdağ Metropolitan Municipality, 2 vehicles from the Çerkezköy Organized Industrial Zone, and 2 vehicles from the Regional Directorate of Forestry are currently here, with 3 more on the way. Specialized fire trucks from BOTAŞ and Opet for chemical fires are also here now. In my discussions with the teams, the fire is under control. One house was slightly affected by the fire. Three water cannon vehicles (TOMA) from our Police Department are also here to prevent the fire from spreading to other areas. Hopefully, we will complete the cooling operations in a short time."
