Fire on cargo ship in Kocaeli
A fire broke out in the deck area of a ship anchored at the Rota Port in the Körfez district of Kocaeli due to electrical cables. Five people were affected by smoke in the fire.
The incident occurred on the Panama-flagged cargo ship named 'Christin HT' anchored at the Rota Port in the Körfez district of Kocaeli.
According to the information obtained, the fire broke out in the lower deck area of the ship due to a short circuit in the electrical cables.
Upon notification, fire department, coast guard teams, medical personnel, and sea police were dispatched to the scene.
The teams that arrived at the scene in a short time intervened and extinguished the fire. Five crew members affected by the smoke were given oxygen in the ambulance.
While the ship's crew refused to go to the hospital, it was learned that damage occurred in the lower deck and kitchen areas of the ship.
An investigation into the incident has been initiated.
