Fire panic in Istanbul! Shoe workshop engulfed in flames

The fire occurred around 09:00 in the morning in the Malkoçoğlu neighborhood of Sultangazi. A fire broke out for an as-yet-unknown reason at a shoe workshop. Workers inside during the fire were rescued using the building's external fire escapes. Numerous fire and medical teams were dispatched to the scene, where a desperate struggle for life unfolded.

PLASTIC RAW MATERIALS COMPLICATE INTERVENTION

Because the fire occurred in a facility producing plastic raw materials, firefighting efforts were difficult. Medical teams dispatched to the scene treated employees affected by smoke, and the fire was brought under control after extensive extinguishing efforts by the fire department.

"ONE PERSON WAS TRYING TO JUMP FROM THE WINDOW HERE"

Münir Alkasir, who was at the scene during the fire, said, "I hadn't noticed when the fire started. I was just sitting here. When I saw the smoke, I went outside immediately. I saw the smoke rising and jumped to the back; there is an entrance from the back. I was trying to get them out, but when the police arrived, they didn't let me go inside. I convinced them with difficulty; the back stairs were locked. I squeezed through the bars and went inside, but the stairs wouldn't open. I broke them somehow and got in. I brought the people upstairs down before the fire department arrived. I brought down 3 people; they were in good condition. I brought 2 people down from the back, and 1 person was trying to jump from the window here. People were trying to persuade them. Until the fire department arrived, they then got them down. There were 5 people inside. The first 2 people to notice the situation had gone downstairs, the others couldn't get down."
