A firefighting helicopter responding to a forest fire in the Kozan district of Adana crashed at low altitude while drawing water from the Gökdere Bridge Dam on the Göksu River.
A firefighting helicopter has crashed into a dam lake during a fire in the Kozan district of Adana. According to reports from DHA, the crew on board the helicopter managed to survive by swimming to safety.
Efforts to recover the helicopter have reportedly begun.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made a statement regarding the accident. Yumaklı said, "Our helicopter, used by our General Directorate of Forestry to intervene in the forest fire in the Kozan district of Adana, suffered a crash while drawing water from the Gökdere Dam. Thankfully, our 5 personnel serving on the helicopter were rescued safely."
