First assessment from 12punto columnist Bahadır Selim Dilek following the terror attack in Ankara: 'The timing is very significant'

Turkey has once again faced the reality of terror. An explosion occurred in front of the TUSAŞ facilities in the Kahramankazan district of Ankara. A clash broke out following the bomb attack that took place at the security entrance around 15:20. Special Operations Teams were dispatched to the region.

According to Sözcü's report, it was stated that sounds of clashes were heard in the region.

YERLİKAYA CONFIRMED THE TERROR ATTACK

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya confirmed the terror attack. Yerlikaya stated that there were martyrs and wounded following the explosion.

Unfortunately, we have martyrs and wounded following the attack.

MANSUR YAVAŞ: WE CONDEMN TERROR

Following the attack, a statement also came from Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş. In his post, Yavaş used the following expressions:

I am deeply saddened by the clash and terror attack that occurred at the TUSAŞ facility in Ankara.

I wish God's mercy upon our martyrs and a speedy recovery to our wounded. We condemn terror.

FIRST ASSESSMENT FROM BAHADIR SELİM DİLEK

Journalist Bahadır Selim Dilek, one of the 12punto columnists who made exclusive statements to 12punto after the attack, made important remarks following the terror attack.

Underlining that the timing of the attack is significant, Dilek drew attention to the statements made on Tuesday by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

He noted that a serious reaction had formed in society following MHP leader Bahçeli's call for Öcalan to come to parliament and Özgür Özel's statements regarding Kurds. Bahadır Selim Dilek noted that with this terror attack, a group within the state could project the image that 'one fights with terror, not negotiates'.

Evaluating the fact that Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that the attack was a terrorist activity shortly after the incident, Dilek said that this was also quite significant. Bahadır Selim Dilek asked how it was revealed in such a short period of time that the attack was a terrorist activity.

Underlining that there are two possibilities among the reasons for the terror attack at the TUSAŞ facilities in the Kahramankazan district of Ankara, Bahadır Selim Dilek stated that it could be a message of 'either an excuse to withdraw from the 'new opening' steps of Bahçeli and Özel, or, as in the 2015 events, scaring the public with terror to say we must negotiate'.
