First inspection conducted at Ferdi Zeyrek's home following accident: 'It is understood that it failed to perform its function'

EMO Board Chairman Mahir Ulutaş announced that an assigned delegation conducted inspections at the home of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek.

Ulutaş stated, "It is understood that there was a leak in the motor due to high humidity and that the protection equipment failed to perform its function."

Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek was hospitalized with serious injuries after being electrocuted at his home.

EMO Board Chairman Mahir Ulutaş shared the findings of the delegation that inspected Zeyrek's home.

Noting that the delegation assigned by the prosecutor's office for a preliminary investigation identified several issues, Ulutaş reported the following via his social media account:

“We wish Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Ferdi Zeyrek a speedy recovery. A delegation, which includes an experienced colleague who is an EMO member, has been assigned for the prosecutor's office's technical preliminary investigation regarding the accident, and a detailed report will be issued in due course.

According to initial findings, rusting was observed in the electrical installation and protection equipment, and serious problems were identified in the electrical room design that are unsuitable for wet areas. It is understood that there was a leak in the motor due to high humidity and that the protection equipment failed to perform its function.”
