First Instagram, now Facebook... Facebook imposes 'Haniyeh' ban on Diyanet

The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) blocked access to Instagram in Turkey as of this morning. Instagram, one of the world's leading social media platforms, had restricted the sharing of content related to the death of Haniyeh.

While Instagram's restriction of content regarding Haniyeh's death was on the agenda, another restriction move came from Facebook. Facebook removed the Diyanet Presidency's post regarding the funeral prayer held in Istanbul for Haniyeh and restricted the account.

According to the restriction decision, the Diyanet Presidency will not be able to broadcast or create advertisements until September 1, 2024.

Instagram was purchased by Facebook in 2012. Two of the most popular social media platforms in the world operate under the Meta umbrella.
