Following the detention of Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere, a message written in his own handwriting was shared via his social media account through his lawyers. In his message, Tutdere noted the following:
"Throughout my entire political life, I have always fought against injustice and lawlessness.
As both a lawyer and a politician, I have never strayed from justice and conscience.
I have conducted every action and task of mine in accordance with, first, conscience, and then, the law.
I am making an open call to all my fellow citizens. Together, we will heal the wounds of our city. Everyone should be at ease.
We have had no actions or practices that would cause my fellow Adıyaman citizens to hang their heads in shame.
Justice will be served. We will be back at our post as soon as possible. I send my greetings to everyone.
Do not let your morale drop. This is an open call to all my colleagues; we will continue to do our work in the best way possible without victimizing our citizens."
