First reaction from Ekrem İmamoğlu regarding the detention of Mustafa Bozbey: It is impossible not to be angry

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey was detained this morning along with his family members.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu reacted to the incident in a post on his social media account. 

İmamoğlu expressed his reaction with the following statement:

"I learned with sadness the news that our Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, Mr. Mustafa Bozbey, has been detained. It is impossible not to be angry at this news, which wounds our conscience.

It appears that action was taken after the pressure tactics long maintained by the pro-government media—and clearly also by the structure nested within the judiciary through different channels—failed to yield results, and especially after Mayor Mustafa came to Silivri to support his colleagues. 

It has been 2 years since the March 31 elections, and the government continues to think it is a skill to reclaim the administrations it lost through judicial tricks. Our nation, whose will is being disregarded, will do what is necessary in the first general election, and those who carry out these unlawful processes will be held accountable for their actions at the ballot box. 

All our friends who pay the price for following the path of the nation will continue to serve in the best way, with pride!"
