In the trial concerning the October 6-8 events, in which former Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chairs Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ were also tried, Yüksekdağ was sentenced to 30 years and 3 months in prison, while Selahattin Demirtaş was sentenced to 28 years and 6 months.
Deputy Minister of Interior Bülent Turan commented on the sentences given to the politicians, saying, "We said they would be held accountable!"

Even if it does not please some, justice has been served; there are acquittals and there are sentences. May it be for the best.''
