First resignation in the newly established SHP: Founding member Zülfü Hamit Altın speaks to 12punto

Zülfü Hamit Altın, one of the founding members of the Social Democratic Populist Party (SHP), stated in his remarks to 12punto that he no longer has any connection with the SHP.

The Social Democratic Populist Party (SHP), which made a rapid entry onto the political scene, announced its chairman in a press release today.

The SHP founders' board, whose establishment procedures were completed on June 28, 2024, announced that film producer and filmmaker Burak Çelik has been elected as the chairman.

The statement noted that the party's new headquarters building will open for service this month, that numerous cinema artists, former and current mayors, bureaucrats, and active council members wish to join the party, and that the party will organize in 60 provinces and hold a congress in September.

Following the announcement by the SHP founders' board, Zülfü Hamit Altın, one of the founding members of the SHP, submitted his resignation.

Zülfü Hamit Altın said the following in his statement to 12punto:

"I no longer have any connection with the friends who founded the SHP. Therefore, the party has already provided the necessary information to the press, and the elected SHP Chairman has made the necessary statements via a press release and on the YouTube channel. I do not want to talk about this anymore because I no longer have any connection with them."

HE HAD SAID, "I COULD NOT DIGEST THE BETRAYAL OF KILIÇDAROĞLU"

12Punto had previously reached out to SHP founder Zülfü Hamit Altın.

Film and theater actor, writer, and director Zülfü Hamit Altın had stated that he joined the party's establishment process upon the suggestion of a friend on the founders' board.

Explaining that he was an SHP delegate congress member for the Eyüpsultan district during the era of the first SHP, Zülfü Hamit Altın had described his decision to set out to re-establish the SHP today by saying, "I could not digest the betrayal of Kılıçdaroğlu."

KILIÇDAROĞLU HAD DENIED IT

With the SHP's entry onto the political scene, claims had surfaced that former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was behind the party.

Kılıçdaroğlu denied this claim, saying, "Am I going to be the chairman of the SHP? Things like this have been written and drawn. All of these are products of imagination. We are CHP members; I served as the Chairman of the CHP. We cannot have a search for another party anyway."
