First statement following meningitis outbreak claims at Akkuyu
Two workers have lost their lives at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, which is currently under construction in Mersin. It was stated that one of the workers died due to meningitis.
At Akkuyu, meningitis was detected in one of the two workers who lost their lives.
The official statement was made by Akkuyu Nuclear JSC. Construction workers Muhittin Oral and Mustafa Avşar were hospitalized on January 11 with suspected meningitis.
TWO WORKERS LOST THEIR LIVES
The two workers who were taken under treatment have passed away.
While it was determined that Mustafa Avşar lost his life due to a meningitis diagnosis, no bacterial agents were detected in the blood tests of Muhittin Oral.
The statement noted that additional medical personnel have been assigned to the construction site and the camps where site workers are accommodated.
