First statement from Akın Gürlek regarding Haluk Levent! 'On the grounds of an attempted escape...'

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek answered journalists' questions following the Cabinet meeting held at the Presidential Palace. Gürlek stated that the process regarding the investigation into the Ahbap Association is ongoing and that the confidentiality order on the file remains in effect.

Stating that the investigation is being conducted under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Gürlek noted that 22 people were detained in the initial phase. Minister Gürlek, "MASAK reports are being examined. The investigation may expand" he said.

Gürlek also conveyed that there was previously a travel ban in place for Ahbap Association President Haluk Levent. The Minister stated that Levent was detained on Sunday "on the grounds of an attempted escape" .

Minister of Justice Gürlek was also asked about the investigation into the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Great Unity Party (BBP) Founding Chairman Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu and his accompanying delegation. Stating that the investigation is being carried out by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Gürlek mentioned that there have been new detentions within the scope of the file and that retired military personnel are among those detained.

In response to a question regarding whether there are individuals linked to FETÖ among the suspects in the investigation, Gürlek replied, "Yes, there are."
