First statement from Barzani following Öcalan's call: We call on the PKK to implement the message

The DEM Party Imralı delegation shared the call from terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan with the public. Abdullah Öcalan stated, "As every modern society and party whose existence has not been forcibly ended would do voluntarily, convene your congress and take a decision for integration with the state and society; all groups must lay down their arms and the PKK must dissolve itself."

Following Öcalan's call, Barzani made a statement on his X account, saying, "As the Kurdistan Region, we fully support the peace process and are ready to play any role required of us for the process to reach success," and called on the PKK to implement Öcalan's message.

Barzani made the following statement:

"We warmly welcome Öcalan's message and his call for the disarmament and liquidation of the PKK. We call on the PKK to comply with this message and implement it. We hope that this call will pave the way for peace and a peaceful solution. Certainly, it is time for a peaceful, civilized, and democratic struggle, where better results and gains will be achieved, not through arms and violence.

As the Kurdistan Region, we fully support the peace process and are ready to play any role required of us for the process to reach success. We also appreciate the role of President Erdoğan and the AKP government, who have worked for peace with a clear vision since the beginning of their tenure. We hope that the next stage will be a successful peace and resolution phase with the participation and solidarity of other parties in Turkey, and that peace and stability will prevail in the country and the entire region."

Speaking at the Erbil Forum yesterday (February 26), Barzani had said, "Öcalan's call will be a roadmap for how this issue can be solved correctly. It is not realistic to expect this process to conclude in a short time, but the call is clear; it is a call for peace."
