First statement from Buğra Gökce following his arrest!

Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA) President Buğra Gökce has made a statement following his arrest on 'corruption' charges.

Gökce shared the following message on his social media account under the title, 'There is no such thing as losing hope and drifting in the dark. Remember; living is a form of resistance under the same sky...':

'I have been arrested in an unjust and unlawful manner. I am saddened for all our fellow travelers whose freedom has been usurped in an unfounded way with claims that reason, logic, and conscience cannot accept, such as "I heard," "I had heard," or "I heard from someone who heard."

However, I know that our beautiful country is not condemned to these bad decisions or this style of governance.

To those who say sovereignty belongs to the nation with a single vote cast for Ekrem İmamoğlu by participating in the primaries today, to the brilliant young people who stand up for democracy, to the aunts and uncles who take to the streets at 70-80 years old and do not spare their prayers and good wishes, to those who want the best for this country,

We will succeed together. No person in this country will ever be subjected to such injustices again; people in this country will live without fear, think without fear, speak without fear, and work without fear.

Until that day, the verses of master Nazım will be our compass: "There is no such thing as losing hope and drifting in the dark. Remember; living is a form of resistance under the same sky.."'
