First statement from Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner following the operation!

Ankara Police Department teams conducted a simultaneous operation targeting the Çankaya Municipality in the morning hours.

SEARCHES CONDUCTED AT MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS

Police teams began searches at the municipality's main service buildings in the early hours of the day. It was learned that the operation covered not only the municipal building but also the homes of some bureaucrats.

DETENTION WARRANTS ISSUED FOR MANY INDIVIDUALS

It was stated that the investigation was not limited to search procedures, and that arrest and detention warrants were issued for a large number of people, including municipal staff and administrators.

GÜNER: I PROVIDED A SPARE KEY FOR THE SEARCH AT MY HOME

Following the operation, Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner issued a written statement. Güner stated that he was outside of Ankara during the operation, but that he would return to the capital within a few hours and had informed the relevant authorities of the situation.

Güner expressed that he had provided a spare key to the teams for the search conducted at his home and that he had asked municipal employees to provide the necessary support to the security forces. He also noted that they would inform the public as the details of the investigation become clear.

Güner used the following expressions in his statement:

“Valuable residents of Çankaya,

My dear fellow citizens;

We have been made aware of the operation due to the searches carried out at our municipal building and the homes of our bureaucrats in the morning hours.

As previously planned, I will be in Ankara within a few hours. I have informed all relevant authorities of this. I also provided a spare key to the teams who came to search my home and asked all our colleagues to assist our security forces.

I would like all our neighbors to know that since we took office, we have managed this institution in the best possible way and that we have not engaged in the slightest behavior that would embarrass anyone who trusts us.

When the details and reasons for the investigation become clear, we will share the necessary statements regarding the matter with the public.”
