First statement from Ciner Group regarding the Can Holding investigation

The investigation conducted into Can Holding on charges of "establishing a criminal organization and money laundering" has also reached Ciner Holding boss Turgay Ciner. The Ciner Group made its first statement regarding the developments within the scope of the Can Holding investigation. The statement indicated that there was only a commercial relationship between the Ciner Group and Can Holding stemming from the sale of Ciner Yayın Holding shares, and that there was no other connection beyond that.

ARREST WARRANT ISSUED FOR TURGAY CİNER

While an arrest warrant was issued for Ciner Holding owner Turgay Ciner as part of the investigation, trustees were appointed to companies affiliated with the Ciner Group. Among the companies to which trustees were appointed by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) are various firms belonging to the Ciner Group. As a result of the operation, in which 11 people were detained, Turgay Ciner's son Atilla Ciner and Ciner Glass A.Ş. CEO Gökhan Şen were arrested.

STATEMENT FROM CINER GROUP

In its statement regarding the Can Holding investigation, the Ciner Group expressed that they have no involvement in or accusations related to the allegations. The statement included the following: "Ciner Holding and its companies have no connection to the investigation allegations concerning Can Holding and its companies. The only commercial relationship between the two groups is the sale of Ciner Yayın Holding shares."

The statement continued as follows:

"The sole legal and commercial relationship that has taken place to date between Park Holding and its affiliated companies and the companies declared to belong to the Can Group consists of the transfer of Ciner Yayın Holding shares to a company within the Can Group named Doğal Yaşam A.Ş., which was carried out with the knowledge of the public and under the supervision and approval of public institutions, between an independent buyer and an independent seller, open to audit, legitimate, conducted through major banks, and completed and executed in approximately 5 months under conditions entirely in compliance with laws, regulations, and commercial customs. Outside of this entirely legitimate and legal transaction, Park (Ciner) Group companies have never had any commercial relationship, acquaintance, transaction, etc., with the Can Group at any date. Therefore, Park (Ciner) Holding and its companies have no connection whatsoever to the criminal investigation allegations and accusations brought against Can Holding and its companies.

The Park Group is among the most important investor groups in our country. It has a respectable history of nearly 50 years filled with commitment to the law, transparency, accountability, productivity, creation of added value, and contribution to the public economy. We have full faith that this truth will be revealed in a fair manner as a result of the investigation being conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

In a democratic state of law, of course, no one is above the law and should not be. However, the protection of the presumption of innocence, adherence to the principles of fair investigation and trial, legal security, the personality of criminal responsibility, the principle of no crime without law, and fundamental rights such as the right to property are also other requirements of being a State of Law. There is no place in states of law for attempts to interfere with the aforementioned principles and judicial processes through disinformation, lies, and distortions.

As a corporate group committed to and respectful of the law, the Park Group will make its legal objections to all the security measures taken against it based on these unlawful allegations, which are unrelated and baseless, and will contribute to the fair revelation of the truth."
