First statement from Fatih Altaylı regarding the RTÜK decision
The RTÜK meeting also resulted in a decision regarding YouTube channels. It was stated that Fatih Altaylı and İlker Canikligil must obtain licenses for their YouTube channels within 72 hours, and that if they do not, an access ban will be requested for their channels. Altaylı has provided his first comment on the decision.
The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has issued a barrage of penalties against Sözcü TV, Halk TV, Tele1, and NOW TV, citing broadcasts made following the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and his colleagues.
RTÜK member İlhan Taşçı stated in a post on his social media account, "Sözcü TV was given a 10-day broadcast suspension penalty on the grounds that live broadcasts from Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir incited 'public hatred and enmity' in the commentary."
Halk TV and Tele 1 were given a 5 percent fine and a 5-program suspension penalty. Additionally, on the grounds that the limits of criticism were exceeded in the broadcasts, a 2 percent fine was issued to NOW TV, and 3 percent fines were issued to SÖZCÜ TV, Halk TV, and Tele1 each.
Fatih Altaylı made a post on his X account regarding the decision. Altaylı used the following expressions:
"As of now, there is nothing that has been notified to me. When an official notification is made, as a journalist from an era where laws were respected, we will of course fulfill our legal obligations."
