YENİ Party Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül has issued a statement following the arrest decisions made as part of the "money laundering" investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
Within the scope of the investigation, 15 people, including Sarıgül's ex-wife Aylin Kotil and his son Ömer Sarıgül, were arrested. In a post on his social media account, Sarıgül argued that the documents used as the basis for the accusations were forged.
In his statement, Sarıgül said, "The honor, dignity, and freedom of every citizen of the Republic of Turkey are entrusted to the state. I would have expected the justice system to protect its citizens against those who use the judiciary as a tool for personal grudge and hostility."
Stating that the documents presented by the individuals making the accusations were "so forged that they would not even require the opening of any investigative proceedings," Sarıgül noted that they would continue their legal struggle to reveal the innocence of his family members and friends.
Sarıgül concluded his statement with the words, "Without losing our faith in the law, we will continue to trust the judiciary."
The honor, dignity, and freedom of every citizen of the Republic of Turkey are entrusted to the state. I would have expected the justice system to protect its citizens against those who use the judiciary as a tool for personal grudge and hostility. The documents presented by the individuals making the accusations are so forged that they would not even require the opening of any investigative proceedings. We will resolutely continue our legal struggle to reveal the innocence and righteousness of my family members and friends. Without losing our faith in the law, we will continue to trust the judiciary.
