A 5.9 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Kale district of Malatya at 10:46 AM. Following the earthquake, geologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür stated, "The earthquake that occurred today is likely a result of energy transfer from the February 6, 2023, earthquakes to this fault. There is no cause for concern."

Geologist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made statements following the 5.9 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Malatya.

Prof. Dr. Görür stated "there is no cause for concern" and noted the following:

"A 6.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in Akuşağı-Kale/Malatya. It is on the East Anatolian Fault Zone. As you know, this fault had largely broken due to the 2020 Elazığ earthquake. The earthquake that occurred today is likely a result of energy transfer from the February 6, 2023, earthquakes to this fault. There is no cause for concern."
