The long-awaited statement in the new resolution process, which began with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call for Öcalan to lay down arms, was issued yesterday.

The terrorist organization PKK announced the decisions of its so-called 12th congress, held between May 5-7 in the "Media Defense Areas." It announced that it had laid down its arms and dissolved the organization, stating, "Activities carried out under the name of PKK have been terminated."

In his first statement following the decision to dissolve and lay down arms, terrorist organization leader Öcalan said, "I respectfully salute the decisions taken at the historic 12th congress and the messages regarding the upcoming period."
