CHP Chairman Özgür Özel met with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş today, following his series of visits to political parties regarding his call for a by-election.
The meeting between the two took place at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
Speaking to members of the press after the meeting, Özel said, "As I mentioned before, I had visited political party leaders with a specific agenda. There were issues on which we reached a consensus with our 12 chairmen."
Stating, "There were also specific agenda items that I needed to discuss with our Parliament Speaker," Özel added, "We held a general evaluation where we addressed all of them, covering the political atmosphere in Turkey in general, ranging from attacks on our party's institutional identity to the practices of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Interior, as well as the attitudes of the personnel under their command, regarding all members of parliament in the Assembly as a whole."
Özel continued: "In addition to this, a commission study regarding the process for a democratic Turkey free of terrorism, which is chaired by the Speaker and where Mr. Murat Emir chairs our delegation, had been completed. Regarding the 6th and 7th sections of this commission study, which our Parliament Speaker emphasizes on every occasion as having been completed unanimously."
