First step back in appointment of audit trustees to poultry firms: Halted for 4 companies

The first step back has been taken regarding the audit trustee measure applied to some companies within the scope of the investigation conducted into the white meat sector.

According to information provided by journalist Ali Ekber Yıldırım, the decision ends the audit trusteeship practice for four of the sector's leading producers.

Applications made by other companies that were assigned trustees within the scope of the investigation are also expected to be evaluated in the coming days.

Yıldırım reported that it is expected that the other applications will be concluded on June 17 and that the audit trustee appointments will be lifted entirely.

HOW DID THE INVESTIGATION PROCESS PROCEED?

The investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office was initiated upon allegations of unfair price increases and the disruption of market operations in the white meat sector.

Within the scope of the investigation, while detention procedures were applied to numerous executives in Istanbul-based operations, audit trustee measures were ordered for Banvit, Akpiliç, Bakpiliç, Aspiliç, Bupiliç, Erpiliç, Gedik Pazarlama, Hastavuk, Keskinoğlu, Şenpiliç, Orvital, Aypi, and Lezita.

COMPETITION INVESTIGATIONS ALSO ON THE AGENDA

The white meat sector has also been on the agenda in recent years with investigations by the Competition Authority. As a result of the investigation it completed in 2025, the Competition Board imposed a total administrative fine of approximately 3.7 billion lira on 13 companies operating in the sector.
