A post made by AKP member Mustafa Varank as part of the August 30 Victory Day celebrations has dropped like a bombshell on the agenda. In the image used by Varank, it was observed that Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk had been removed from his famous photograph taken at Kocatepe. This situation sparked a major backlash on social media.

Users flooded the comments section of Varank's post with photos of Atatürk. Despite the intense backlash, Varank did not change his post.

This scandal brought to mind the August 30 post made by the General Directorate of Security (EGM) in recent days. The EGM had not included Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's name or photograph in the visual prepared for the 103rd anniversary of the Great Offensive.

Following a massive wave of backlash, the General Directorate of Security took a step back and was forced to publish a new post that included Atatürk's name and photograph.

VARANK DID NOT TAKE A STEP BACK

Although the EGM took a step back following the reactions, it was noted that Mustafa Varank did not change his August 30 post. Thousands of citizens on social media reacted to Varank, stating, "There is no August 30 without Atatürk."
