Five MPs' 'immunity dossiers' in Parliament: Sezgin Tanrıkulu is among them
Dossiers regarding the lifting of parliamentary immunity for five deputies, including CHP's Sezgin Tanrıkulu, have reached the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). A dossier was prepared against Diyarbakır MP Tanrıkulu due to his remarks regarding the Turkish Armed Forces.
CHP Diyarbakır MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu, Green Left Party Group Deputy Chair Meral Danış Beştaş, Green Left Party Van MP Pervin Buldan, Democrat Party Istanbul MP Cemal Enginyurt, and CHP İzmir MP Murat Bakan are the subjects of immunity dossiers that have reached the TBMM.
SENT TO THE COMMISSION
The dossiers regarding the lifting of immunity for 4 MPs, including Green Left Party Group Deputy Chair Meral Danış Beştaş, CHP's Sezgin Tanrıkulu, and Green Left Party Van MP Pervin Buldan, were submitted to the TBMM Presidency. Among the dossiers received are the files for Beştaş and Buldan, as well as Democrat Party Istanbul MP Cemal Enginyurt and CHP İzmir MP Murat Bakan.
The Presidential Summaries on the Lifting of Legislative Immunity were referred by the Parliamentary Presidency to the Joint Commission composed of members of the Constitutional and Justice Commissions.
WHAT HAPPENED?
CHP Diyarbakır MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu had made controversial allegations regarding the TSK (Turkish Armed Forces) during a program last month. Tanrıkulu had said, "Everything the TSK does is not exempt from criticism. We are MPs; we question these things. Isn't it the TSK that carried out the coup on September 12? Isn't it this army that attempted the coup on July 15, that burned villages... I have cases I am following. Isn't it the TSK that threw 15 villagers from a helicopter? This is established by an ECHR ruling... We approach it critically. We ask questions, we ask whether it is true or not, we ask this in order to remove such suspicions regarding the TSK. If it had done everything right in 40 years, Turkey would not be in this situation. The ECHR ruling is there, 15 villagers, who threw them? Who burned so many villages? More recently, there was Roboski Uludere... Turkey has reached this point because you also could not approach it critically."
