Flames engulf home in İzmir, bedridden woman loses her life
A bedridden woman has lost her life in a house fire in İzmir. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
The fire broke out in the evening hours at an apartment building located in the Kazımdirik Neighborhood of İzmir's Aliağa district. Flames began to rise for an as-yet-undetermined reason from the home of 47-year-old bedridden patient Oksana Kofanova, who lived on the 2nd floor of the 4-story building.
Citizens who witnessed the situation reported the incident to the 112 Emergency Call Center.
Fire crews arriving at the address upon notification intervened in the blaze.
While the flames were brought under control and extinguished, teams entering the apartment after cooling operations determined that Kofanova had lost her life.
Meanwhile, the unfortunate woman's lifeless body was taken to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue following the prosecutor's examination. It was learned that an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
