Flash move from Gürsel Tekin and Berhan Şimşek

Following the court-ordered cancellation of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Congress, Gürsel Tekin, who was appointed as a trustee to the CHP Istanbul Provincial Presidency, will make a statement together with Berhan Şimşek.

The duo will make statements today at 14:30 at the former CHP provincial presidency building located in Sarıyer.

Şimşek had announced that he would be a candidate at the CHP's 21st Extraordinary Congress on September 6, but his candidacy was not accepted because he could not submit the signatures he collected within the specified time. Arguing with CHP leader Özgür Özel in the congress hall, Şimşek later said in a statement, "When I was writing 'CHP' on walls in this party, Mr. Özgür Özel and those around him were still wearing short pants."

Şimşek's name most recently came to the agenda for the chairmanship candidacy at the CHP's 22nd Extraordinary Congress on September 21, but Şimşek did not put forward his candidacy during the election process.
