Flights from TRNC to Istanbul cancelled
It has been announced that flights scheduled for tomorrow from Ercan Airport in Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, to Istanbul have been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions in Turkey.
According to information received from officials at the TRNC Department of Civil Aviation, all flights from Ercan Airport arriving in Istanbul on Friday, as well as some flights on Saturday and Sunday, have been cancelled due to snowfall and adverse weather conditions affecting Istanbul and its surrounding areas.
Stating that passengers should contact their airlines regarding the cancellations, officials said that passengers will be kept informed about developments.
TRNC Minister of Public Works and Transportation Erhan Arıklı stated in his announcement that the cancelled flights are related to the snowfall in Istanbul and that they are working in cooperation with airline companies to ensure that passengers do not suffer any grievances.
Minister Arıklı pointed out that weather conditions in the TRNC are suitable for flights, but that the cancellations are occurring due to snowfall at the destination, Istanbul, adding, "We hope that flights will return to normal as soon as possible as the weather improves in the coming days."
Arıklı said that flights from Ercan Airport to other cities in Turkey, excluding Istanbul, are being carried out without any issues.
