Flights to the TRNC to be restricted
The TRNC will restrict flights at Ercan Airport during certain hours between April 29 and May 5 due to TEKNOFEST demonstrations. Drone and paragliding flights will require special permission.
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has imposed temporary restrictions on flights at Ercan Airport as part of the Aviation, Space and Technology Festival (TEKNOFEST) events. The restrictions will be in effect between April 29 and May 5.
In a statement issued by the Civil Aviation Department under the TRNC Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, it was announced that, per the published NOTAM (Notice to Airmen), only aircraft performing demonstrations as part of TEKNOFEST will be permitted to fly during the specified dates between 10:00-13:00, 15:00-16:30, and 18:00-19:00.
The statement noted that during the gaps outside these designated time slots, flights of aerial vehicles such as drones and paragliders may be conducted conditionally, subject to prior approval from the Air Traffic Control Branch Office.
It was noted that the Civil Aviation Department can be reached for flight permits, coordination, and detailed information at the phone numbers “0392 231 47 77” and “0542 876 9999”.
