Flooding hits Camp Nou stadium renovated by Limak

Limak A.Ş., owned by Nihat Özdemir, who is close to the government, had won the tender for the renovation of the Spanish giant Barcelona's stadium, Camp Nou.

Camp Nou, where Limak began renovation work on June 1, 2023, was expected to open on August 10, 2025. However, due to delays in the renovation work, Barcelona had to remain away from its stadium for a period.

According to the tender, it was planned to transform Camp Nou into Europe's largest stadium with a capacity of 105 thousand spectators.

The Spanish giant played its first match on November 22, 2025, but the stadium's maximum capacity was set at 45 thousand because the stands were not yet fully completed.

CAMP NOU FLOODED

During the match where Barcelona defeated Oviedo 3-0 at home last night, the flooding at Camp Nou stadium was talked about more than the match itself.

On the night when heavy rainfall was effective, the press box was submerged and equipment was rendered unusable.

The images from Camp Nou stadium became a global talking point.

WORKERS HAD STARTED A PROTEST

On the other hand, workers employed in the Camp Nou renovation construction had recently started a protest, stating that they were not receiving their rights.

While the workers set up tents in front of the stadium, the Spanish Ministry of Labor had fined the subcontractor firm after it was determined that a large number of workers were being employed off the books at Limak's subcontractor, Ekstreme İnşaat.
