İzmir Foça Mayor Saniye Bora Fıçı joined the AKP at a ceremony held at the AKP Headquarters. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan personally pinned the party badge on Fıçı.
Fıçı made statements to tv100 regarding the transfer in question. Explaining her reason for joining the AKP, Fıçı drew attention to the projects they plan to implement for Foça.
Fıçı stated, "We will serve Foça. We have revolutionary projects, very large projects. We will produce service here to realize these projects, and for the development and growth of Foça. We will work with a common mind."
Speaking to journalist Sinan Burhan, Fıçı explained the reasons for her decision to continue her political journey in the AKP.
Responding to the question, "How did our President welcome you? What kind of dialogue did you have?", Fıçı stated that President Erdoğan welcomed them along with other female mayors.
Fıçı expressed that Erdoğan showed them significant interest and welcomed them with respect. Stating that she was also warmly welcomed at the AKP Headquarters, Fıçı said she was pleased with the interest shown by party officials.

Answering the question, "Why did you join the AK Party?", Fıçı said that Foça is in need of important services and new investments.
Stating that she has major goals for Foça, Fıçı expressed that the lack of sufficient harmony and cooperation between the central government and local government has been a factor in the failure to implement certain services to date.
In her speech announcing her decision to join the AKP, Fıçı used the following expressions:
"I have decided to continue my political journey from now on under the roof of the Justice and Development Party. On this occasion, I would like to thank our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who listened to us with sincerity and did not spare his support and interest from the very first moment I conveyed the work, dreams, and goals we have in mind for our Foça."
Emphasizing that she has projects for Foça, Fıçı stated that the central government and local government must work together for the development and growth of the district.
Fıçı said, "We will serve Foça. We have revolutionary projects, very large projects. We will produce service here to realize these projects, and for the development and growth of Foça. We will work with a common mind. The central government and local governments will work together and we will grow Foça."
