Folk poet Fedai Koç has passed away!
Fedai Koç, one of the last folk poets raised in Amasya, has passed away after succumbing to a relentless illness.
Folk poet Fedai Koç, who succumbed to a relentless illness, was laid to rest at the Tekirdede Cemetery following the funeral prayer held at the Sultan Bayezid II Mosque.
Stating that they are deeply saddened by the loss of a valuable artist, Researcher and Author Hüseyin Menç said, "He had been carrying on the Turkish minstrel tradition for years. He was one of the last poets of Amasya. He was a powerful poet whose conversation, music, and words we benefited from whenever we gathered once a month."
"HE WAS A PATRIOTIC POET"
Mustafa Ayvalı, the Amasya Provincial Representative of the Turkish Union of Authors and Literary Works Owners (İLESAM), who explained that Fedai Koç, who passed away at the age of 66, had lived in Germany for over 40 years, said, "He had been in Turkey for the last 5 years. He used to participate in the activities of Turkish associations in Germany. He was a good, patriotic poet. Not only Amasya but Turkey has lost an important figure."
Amasya Mayor Dr. Bayram Çelik also attended the funeral ceremony. Çelik extended his condolences to the relatives of Fedai Koç.
