Following Erdoğan's Assad remarks, 'Syria survey' comes to mind

Following the remarks made last month by AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan, stating, "There is no reason not to re-establish diplomatic relations with Syria. Just as we did in the past, we can do it again.

We have no intention of interfering in Syria's internal affairs. As you know, there is no reason why we cannot do it again, just as we did in the past, even to the point of family meetings with Mr. Assad," the research on Turkey-Syria relations conducted by Areda Survey two years ago has returned to the agenda.

According to the research conducted by the Areda Survey research company with 2,000 people, 64.3 percent of the Turkish public advocates for the development of relations between Turkey and Syria and the resumption of ties. 35.7 percent view this rapprochement negatively.

METHODOLOGY OF THE RESEARCH

The research, which involved 2,000 participants across Turkey and was conducted between August 23-27, 2022, was carried out using the CAWI technique, one of the quantitative research methods, via "Areda Survey's Profile-Based Digital Panel."
