A major food scandal has erupted in Ankara. An operation was carried out against a network that was collecting expired chocolates to put them on the market before the Ramadan Feast and repackaging them. A total of 17 tons of expired chocolate were seized in a raid on a warehouse in Yenimahalle.

THEY TRIED TO COLLECT EXPIRED CHOCOLATES AND PUT THEM BACK ON SALE

While concerns regarding food safety are increasing every day, food fraud continues unabated despite the disclosure lists regularly published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Most recently, teams from the Ankara Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch (KOM) determined that expired chocolates were being collected at a warehouse in Yenimahalle and would be offered for sale again by changing their dates.

GENDARMERIE RAIDED THE WAREHOUSE

Following the findings, teams from the Gendarmerie Command and the Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry took action and conducted an operation yesterday. During the raid on the warehouse, 17 tons of expired chocolate, which had been prepared to be put back on the market, were seized.
