Footage had gone viral on social media: Notable decision regarding the woman who harassed men in Istanbul
Following the footage that surfaced on social media, it was decided that 30-year-old Z.E., who was taken into custody, should be placed under observation at a healthcare facility.
A criminal liability assessment will be conducted for 30-year-old Z.E., who was alleged to have entered workplaces in Istanbul to sexually harass men, with footage of the incidents shared on social media.
Teams from the Istanbul Police Department launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the suspect following the footage that spread on social media platforms. As a result of the investigation, Z.E. was taken into custody.
After her processing at the police station, Z.E. was referred to the Küçükçekmece Courthouse yesterday, where it was claimed that she suffers from a psychological disorder.
Following her statement to the prosecutor, the suspect was brought before a criminal judgeship of peace, which ruled that she be placed under observation at an appropriate healthcare facility to determine whether she possesses criminal liability.
The report to be prepared during this process is expected to be taken into account in the evaluation of the suspect's legal status in the later stages of the investigation.
