Footage of CHP deputy being assaulted emerges: Called to Ankara following 'harassment' allegations

It was learned that Yazgan filed a complaint on the grounds that he was assaulted, while the other party filed a criminal complaint against the deputy for alleged harassment.

REFERRED TO THE COURTHOUSE

Following the complaints, three suspects who accused Yazgan of "sexual harassment" and assaulted him were detained by the police. The detained individuals, N.D., B.Ş., and T.A., were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station.

3 SUSPECTS DETAINED IN THE FIGHT WHERE THE CHP DEPUTY WAS ASSAULTED RELEASED

In Edirne, 3 people, including 2 women, who were detained in connection with the fight in which CHP Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan was allegedly assaulted, were released with judicial control conditions and a travel ban.

The incident occurred at night in an apartment in the Cumhuriyet neighborhood of central Edirne. Upon notification, police teams were dispatched to the address, and CHP Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan filed a complaint, stating that he had been assaulted, his mobile phone had been taken, and he had been filmed during the incident. During the search conducted by police teams, Yazgan's mobile phone was found under the refrigerator and returned to him. B.Ş. (33), T.A. (33), and N.D. (39) were detained in connection with the incident. In their statements, the suspects claimed that they went to T.A.'s house after a birthday celebration, drank alcohol there with CHP Deputy Yazgan, and that the ensuing argument turned into a fight.

It was learned that the parties filed mutual complaints against each other. It was stated that the suspects made allegations of sexual harassment, threats, and insults against Yazgan, and that N.D. claimed to have been injured in the hand by a piece of glass. It was learned that the footage of the incident is also being examined as part of the investigation. The 3 suspects, who were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station, were released by the criminal judgeship of peace with judicial control conditions and a travel ban.

It was learned that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

SUMMONED TO CHP HEADQUARTERS

A statement also came from the CHP following the incident.

CHP Party Spokesperson Müslim Sarı announced on his social media account that Yazgan has been summoned to the CHP Headquarters.

In his statement, Sarı said, "Our Edirne Deputy Ahmet Baran Yazgan, whose footage was published on some social media platforms today, has been summoned to the CHP Headquarters for the matter to be investigated in all its aspects."
