Footage of her dance with a male belly dancer had spread on social media: Headscarved woman arrested
Following the circulation on social media of dance footage filmed at a nightclub in İzmir, a headscarved woman identified as H.K. has been arrested on charges of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility" and "obscenity," while the male belly dancer, A.S., was released under judicial control with a travel ban and a requirement to sign in.
In İzmir, a headscarved woman identified as H.K., who was seen dancing with a male belly dancer named A.S. at a nightclub, was taken into custody on allegations of "publicly insulting the religious values adopted by a segment of the public" and "obscenity."
Referred to the judgeship today, the headscarved woman H.K. was arrested, while the male belly dancer A.S. was released under judicial control.
A statement from the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office said, "Following the investigation initiated by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office after the video, which became a trending topic on social media, was shared, one of the suspects, H.K., was arrested for the crimes of 'Publicly Inciting the Public to Hatred and Hostility' and 'Mediating the Publication of Obscene Content,' while the other suspect, A.S., was released under judicial control with measures including a signature requirement and a travel ban."
