Footage recorded by two students spread throughout the entire school
In Istanbul, the prosecutor's office intervened after footage of high school students having sexual intercourse was circulated among others.
In Istanbul, four high school students born in 2009 gathered at the home of their friend R.Y. in Şişli. Among the group, two students who had an emotional connection went into R.Y.'s bedroom after a while.
According to the allegations, N.E.A. requested that the sexual intercourse she was about to have with her boyfriend be recorded. R.Y. agreed and recorded the private moments of her two friends.
The scandal erupted when R.Y. sent the footage she had recorded to another friend from school, D.I. The video recording first circulated hand-to-hand at school, and then ended up on the internet.
In her statement, R.Y. said, "D.I. is my female friend from school. I had some private details and images of myself in her possession. D.I. threatened to spread my images if I did not send her the footage I had. So, I gave the footage to her."
D.I. forwarded the footage she received to her boyfriend, S.E.Y. He then sent these images to another friend. The footage then began to circulate and was shared on social media after a while. It was also shared from an Instagram account.
Upon the complaint of N.E.A. and her family, the prosecutor's office launched an investigation. Statements were taken from the 4 children. For some of the children, a travel ban and a requirement to report to the police station 3 days a week were imposed.
