Forced appearance order issued for 22 people in Narin Güran murder case

The investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the murder of Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21 in the Tavşantepe neighborhood of the central Bağlar district and whose lifeless body was found in the Eğertutmaz Stream on September 8, has been completed.

The Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court has prepared an interim order following the acceptance of the indictment, which seeks aggravated life imprisonment for the 4 detained defendants—mother Yüksel Güran, brother Enes Güran, uncle Salim Güran, and neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar—on charges of "intentional killing of a child in complicity."

In the interim order, regarding the justification for the continued detention of the 4 defendants, it was stated: "Considering the existence of concrete evidence indicating a strong suspicion of the crime charged, the time the defendants have spent in detention, the lower and upper limits of the penalty prescribed by law for the crime, the fact that the act is among the catalog crimes listed in Article 100/3 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK) necessitating the presumption of detention grounds, and that judicial control measures would be insufficient, it has been decided that the detention of the defendants shall continue separately, as the detention measure is proportionate."

A "forced appearance" order was issued for 21 people, including some of the detained suspects, to attend the first hearing on November 7 as "witnesses," while father Arif Güran is set to attend as a "complainant" in the trial where the 4 detained defendants face aggravated life imprisonment.

The Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Diyarbakır Bar Association were also invited to the hearing as "complainant institutions." The interim order noted that the hearing is scheduled to begin at 09:00.

Meanwhile, new footage related to the murder has been obtained. Security camera footage shows the confessor, Nevzat Bahtiyar, transporting Narin's lifeless body to the stream bed in his car.
