Foreign Ministry announces evacuation of Turkish citizens in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Öncü Keçeli announced that the Erbil Consulate General has stepped in following evacuation requests from Turkish citizens working in the Chamchamal district of Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, due to emerging security issues in the region.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Öncü Keçeli made a statement on his X account regarding the evacuation of Turkish citizens living in the Chamchamal district of Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, due to security issues that have arisen in the area.
''DEVELOPMENTS IN THE REGION ARE BEING CLOSELY MONITORED''
Keçeli's statement is as follows:
“Regarding the Situation of Our Citizens Working at the Khor Mor Natural Gas Field in the Chamchamal District of Sulaymaniyah: Security issues emerged last Friday in the Chamchamal district of Sulaymaniyah, Iraq. The situation currently appears calm. Our companies are also involved in the natural gas power plant project in the Khor Mor region located in the aforementioned district. Upon learning that our citizens working at these firms had requested evacuation, our Erbil Consulate General intervened, and the necessary support and guidance are being provided. Developments in the region are being closely monitored.”
