Foreign Ministry condemns terrorist attack in Benin
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the terrorist attack in northern Benin that resulted in the deaths of more than 50 soldiers.
In a written statement issued by the Ministry, it was reported that the news of more than 50 Beninese soldiers losing their lives in the terrorist attack was received with deep sorrow.
The statement included the following: "We condemn this heinous attack and extend our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and to the people of Benin."
THE INCIDENT
Benin Government Spokesperson Wilfried Leandre Houngbedji had announced on April 17 that 54 soldiers lost their lives in a terrorist attack carried out in "W National Park," located on the border with Burkina Faso and Niger.
An Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist organization had claimed responsibility for the attack.
It is known that Benin, which neighbors Burkina Faso and Niger, has been facing a terrorist threat since 2016.
