Forensic Medicine Institute releases report: Cause of death for the Böcek family confirmed
The autopsy report regarding the deaths of the 4-member Böcek family, who came to Istanbul from Germany for a vacation, has been submitted to the prosecutor's office.
It was announced that no poison was found in the blood, stomach contents, or food consumed by the Böcek family, but the substance 'phosphine' was detected.
In the report submitted to the prosecutor's office by the Council of Forensic Medicine regarding the deaths of the Böcek family, strong evidence was found indicating that the 4-member family died from "phosphine" gas.
The report stated that the pest control treatment at the hotel caused the family to lose their lives.
Phosphine gas is formed when the substance "aluminum phosphide" turns into a gaseous state.
Evidence had been obtained that this chemical was used in the pest control treatment at the hotel.
As part of the investigation into the deaths of the 4-member Böcek family, who were hospitalized from the hotel where they were staying in Fatih under suspicion of food poisoning after eating at a restaurant in Beşiktaş, the owner of the hotel in Fatih, Hakan O., hotel employee R.B., pest control company owner Zeki K., his son Serkan K., pest control company employee Doğan C., and an employee named M.M.U.D.C. working at the hotel in Fatih were arrested for the crime of 'causing death and injury by negligence'.
