Forest fire in Manisa exceeds 80 hours

The fire, which began on August 14 in the Boyalı neighborhood of Manisa's Gördes district and also affected four neighborhoods in Salihli, has been ongoing for over 80 hours.

Forest fire in Manisa exceeds 80 hours

Firefighting efforts continue by air and land for 80 hours against the fire that broke out last Wednesday in the Boyalı neighborhood of Manisa's Gördes district and spread to the Salihli district on Friday.

In the fire, which has affected the neighborhoods of Boyalı, Karayakup, Çağlayan, Yeniköy, Malkoca, and Dalkara in Gördes; Kale, Kemer, Kurttutan, and Hacıhıdır in Salihli; and Yunuslar and Çamköy in Gölmarmara, agricultural areas as well as forested areas have been damaged.

A total of 529 personnel, including 1 aircraft, 3 helicopters, 93 firefighting crews, 34 water supply vehicles, 26 construction machines, 7 AFAD teams, 5 police teams, 30 gendarmerie units, and 4 gendarmerie armored vehicles (TOMA), are working day and night to bring the fire, which is effective over a large area due to the wind, under control.

Salihli District Governor Ali Güldoğan and Salihli District Gendarmerie Commander Captain Doğukan Karaaslan closely monitored the efforts to extinguish the fire, which is affecting a wide area.

Meanwhile, efforts to bring the forest fire, which has entered its 5th day, under control are ongoing.
