Forest fire in Manisa: Two neighborhoods evacuated
Two neighborhoods in the Salihli district of Manisa have been evacuated as a precautionary measure due to a forest fire.
Manisa's Salihli district saw a fire break out in a forested area, with teams from the Forestry Management Directorate and the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department beginning aerial and ground interventions.
Efforts to bring the fire under control, to which 5 aircraft, 4 helicopters, 12 water tenders, 2 water supply vehicles, and 3 bulldozers have been dispatched, are ongoing, while wind conditions have negatively impacted operations.
2 NEIGHBORHOODS BEING EVACUATED
Meanwhile, the fire, which spread rapidly due to the wind at the foothills of Dibek Mountain, moved toward the rural neighborhoods of Yağbasan and Karasavcı.
Teams evacuated the Karasavcı neighborhood, where 200 people live in 65 households, and the Yağbasan neighborhood, where 230 people live in 80 households, as a precautionary measure.
Additionally, forestry personnel E.Y. (21) and O.E. (42) were affected by smoke while responding to the fire.
It was learned that the two forestry personnel, who received initial treatment in the fire zone and were taken to the hospital, are in good health.
