Forest fire in Mersin brought under control
A forest fire that broke out in the Sarılar locality of Gücüş Neighborhood in Mersin's Erdemli district has been brought under control following aerial and ground interventions. Approximately 2 hectares of land were damaged in the fire, which occurred in a red pine forest. Upon notification by citizens, 1 helicopter, 8 fire trucks, and 50 forestry workers were dispatched to the area. The fire was extinguished after a struggle lasting approximately 2 hours.
The forest fire occurred in the Sarılar locality of the district's Gücüş Neighborhood. According to the information received, citizens who noticed smoke rising from the red pine forest reported the situation to the Erdemli Forest Management Directorate. Following this, 1 helicopter, 8 fire trucks, and 50 forestry workers were dispatched to the region. While teams intervened from the ground, a firefighting helicopter provided support from the air.

With approximately 2 hours of effort, the fire was brought under control and extinguished before it could spread further.

It was learned that approximately 2 hectares of land were damaged in the area, where gendarmerie and citizens also supported the extinguishing efforts, while cooling operations by the teams are ongoing.
